A little bit about us...

We are those cra-azys wandering the mean streets of Richmond VA looking for the best food and drink specials for the best price. Our goal is to hit up at least 1 new place each week and tell you all about it. The good bad and... well the questionable. Our ratings are as follows: thumbs up, thumbs down and thumbs sideways. Also since we may have different opinions on the deals we vote seperate but equal. Please enjoy..

Big Easy in the Sleezy

This is the start of a two part adventure PB & Angeli are embarking on. The question is... who holds the title of the best Happy Hour Po'Boy in the River City..

With that said, it turns out all Po'Boy Happy Hours just happen to land on Mondays. Odd we know. So decisions have to be made... First things first we decided to stay true to our hood roots and go to Caliente. Represent ya'll..

The atmosphere was inviting but nothing special. Lots of wood and some outdoor seating, but you know we ain't there for fluffy seats, we are there for some PO BOYS Buddy. So for you Drinker McDrinkersons, they usually have a $1 beer(can) today it was Genny Cream Ale (yucko) & $3 Rail Drinks (not yucko)
But now DOWN TO BUSINESSSSSSSS. It was 1/2 off all Po'Boys from 5-10 (take note, the special is longer then your typical 5-7 happy hours). The Po'Boys ranged from $8.50-$10.50 and your choices are Shrimp, Chicken, Crawfish, Gator, Catfish and Oyster which you can have fried, blacken, BBQ, or Buffalo style. LOTS o' OPTIONS! They typically come with potato chips and a pickle spear but for a mere .50 extra you can get grits, braised greens, jamaican rice, refried beans, cole slaw, roasted potatoes, french fries of vegetable. We choose chips and tossed the pickle.

Taste-wise the cajun remoulade sauce made the sandwich. The portion size was no Titanic but it seemed to be worth the cash money we spent. Although even now while write this review we just don't feel inspired by our experience.. aka it didn't make us dance. Angeli did have some reservations about the Po'Boy Challenge seeing that she is kinda a Po'Boy Connoisseur.. her brief trip to the French Quarter left her feeling privileged over all these Po'Boy impostors.. ITS ALL ABOUT THE BREAD BABBY.. and this, this was just a roll. Toasted yes, but still a roll. You know what they say you can dress a tranny up but you know they aren't the real thing.
So yes our bill was just $7.44 for a nice meal and a gin and ginger but was it fireworks exploding in our mouths??..... ehhhh

So for lack of fireworks both PB & Angeli give this one two sideways thumbs.
TO BE CONTINUED....
